Set Up TiviMate: Playlist, EPG, and Favorites
On this page
Why there may be no channels after installation
TiviMate is a playback app for Android TV. It does not automatically come with a channel list. You need a playlist or another access method supplied by a service you are authorized to use. Its Google Play listing describes support for formats including M3U, Xtream Codes, and Stalker Portal, along with EPG features. Q1
Set up one part at a time: source first, program guide second, favorites last.
Before you start
Have your supported Android TV device, the access details supplied by your service, and a separate EPG address if your service provides one. A playlist URL may contain private login information. Do not paste it into public chats, online testing sites, or screenshots. TiviMate itself is not a TV service. Q2
1. Add the playlist or source
Open TiviMate and choose the option to add a playlist. Menu wording can change between versions. Select the format your service specifies and enter its address carefully. For an M3U URL, every character matters; an extra space or missing character can prevent it from loading.
Save the source and wait for the app to load its groups or channels before moving on to the EPG. If the list stays empty, check the address, format, account status, and network one at a time.
2. Set up the program guide
The channel list and electronic program guide are separate data:
- The playlist tells the player which channels or streams are available.
- The EPG source supplies program names, times, and descriptions.
If channels play but the guide is blank, the playlist may still be working. Open the EPG settings and add the compatible source specified by your service, often an XMLTV URL. Refresh the guide, then check the device’s time zone and the guide’s date range.
If the guide stays blank, verify the EPG address, refresh the data, and compare the channel ID in the playlist with the EPG listing. A visible channel list does not guarantee that matching guide IDs exist.
3. Organize favorites and groups
Once playback works, mark the channels you use most as favorites. Keep the first set small while checking channel changes and guide data. Groups help with a large list; favorites make regular viewing quicker.
Troubleshoot by symptom
| What you see | What to check next |
|---|---|
| No channels | Whether a playlist was added and whether it contains entries |
| Playlist will not load | Address, format, account, and network separately |
| Channel appears but will not play | Source authorization and supported stream format |
| Channels play, but EPG is blank | EPG address, channel ID mapping, time zone, and refresh |
| Only some channels lack guide data | Compare those entries and IDs specifically |
| Playback stutters | Use the buffering troubleshooting guide |
After each correction, test one familiar channel. This helps show whether you changed the source, EPG, or display settings.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a subscription for TiviMate?
The app and access to content are separate. Check the current store listing for any app features that require payment and check the terms of the service supplying your playlist.
Can I use any M3U playlist?
Use only a source intended for you and permitted by its rights holder, in a format TiviMate supports. An arbitrary file does not guarantee playback or matching guide data.
Why do channels show without program information?
Channel and EPG data load separately. Check the EPG source and channel mapping; a working playlist alone does not populate the guide.
