Can IPTV run directly on your TV?

That depends on the exact TV and app. “Samsung Smart TV” and “LG Smart TV” cover many models and software versions. Model, region, operating system, and app publisher affect what you can install.

Before starting, note the model number and software version, then search for the app on the TV itself. An Android TV or Fire TV installation guide does not automatically apply to Samsung or LG.

Samsung: use the TV’s Apps catalog

LG: check the LG Content Store

Open the LG Content Store or Apps area on your TV and search for the app. LG’s support page describes installing apps through the TV interface; the exact menus can vary by webOS version. The general installation instructions do not confirm that any specific IPTV app supports every model. Q2

Confirm the app publisher, TV model, and region before paying. If the app is not available, a compatible external streaming device may be an option; check its app support too.

Keep app, access, and channels separate

An installed player is playback software. You may also need an account, playlist, or TV service. Buying a player app does not buy a channel package. Use only an access method you are authorized to use, and keep private credentials out of public screenshots.
